WTCO Guide to eSIM: Setup, Travel & Benefits
eSIM is a digital SIM built into your phone. It’s faster to activate, harder to lose, and perfect for travel and business. Here’s how it works with WTCO, how to set it up, and which devices support it.
What is an eSIM?
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a programmable chip already inside your device. Instead of inserting a plastic SIM card, you activate your mobile service digitally—usually by scanning a QR code from WTCO. No waiting, no fiddly trays.
Why switch to eSIM?
For everyday users
- Instant activation — get connected in minutes with a QR code.
- Less hassle — no tiny cards to lose or damage.
- Two numbers, one phone — keep work and personal lines on the same device.
For businesses
- Faster onboarding — deploy numbers to new staff without shipping SIMs.
- Remote friendly — activate or swap services from anywhere.
- More control — manage profiles and plan changes quickly through WTCO.
Device compatibility
Most modern smartphones support eSIM, including:
- Apple iPhone: XS, XR and later (all models, including Pro/Pro Max).
- Samsung Galaxy: S20, S21, S22, S23, S24 series; Note 20; Z Flip and Z Fold models.
- Google Pixel: Pixel 4 and later.
- Others: Oppo Find X3 Pro, X5 Pro and newer; Motorola Edge series; some Huawei and Microsoft Surface Duo devices.
Quick check on your phone: Settings → Mobile/Cellular → Add eSIM (wording may vary).

Travelling overseas with eSIM
- Enable roaming before you leave Australia.
- Add a WTCO International Travel Pack for predictable costs.
- Keep your WTCO number active and (on many phones) add a local data plan while overseas.
- When you’re back, disable the travel pack and carry on as normal.
Tip: Label your plans (e.g., “WTCO AU” and “Travel Data”) to avoid confusion.
Switching plans or devices
- Change plans fast — WTCO can update your eSIM profile without posting a new card.
- Moving to a new phone? We’ll transfer your eSIM securely.
- Dual-SIM flexibility — many devices let you keep eSIM for work and a physical SIM for personal (or vice-versa).
